An adventurous fundraiser is gearing up for the trek of a lifetime as she bids to walk along the Great Wall of China to raise cash for charity.
Laidler Associates financial administrator Lynne Boucher will take on the challenge of walking around 75 miles of the wall later this year in support of Help the Aged.
Lynne decided to take part after spotting an advert for the trek in the Hartlepool Mail. However, she needs to raise a minimum of £2,800.
Lynne has been busy collecting sponsorship from work colleagues, friends, and family.
She will be walking with friends June Milner, 49, an accountant from Billingham and John McCartney, 48, from Peterlee, who works for N-Power. The walk gets underway in October and it is expected to take around eight days to complete.
She said: "I have so far managed to raise £680 by holding a raffle and collecting sponsorship from work colleagues and friends. The trek is going to be a great challenge as we have to complete up to 20km some days in really challenging terrain. I have never walked 10km before so some serious training is going to have be undertaken in the next few months. It is certainly not going to be a holiday or a walk in the park."
Lynne added: "It is inevitable that we are all going to get old one day and if we are alone a simple visit from someone could change your whole day." Volunteers must pay a £99 entry fee and commit to raising a minimum of £2,800.
