University Certificates of Professional Development
The Laidler University Certificate in Professional Development (UCPD) European Machine Safety Requirements was the first course of its kind, offering an academic qualification for the field of machinery safety. It was developed by Laidler Associates and accredited by Teesside University giving an academic route for the professional development of safety engineers and practitioners.
Background
The UCPD was developed due to market demand for a recognised qualification in Machinery Safety. Over a number of years, Laidler clients asked whether they could receive accredited training that could be used towards their Professional Development. The demand was such that Laidler took the bold step towards producing this unique qualification.
After successfully launching the first UCPD course, European Machine Safety Requirements, Laidler have now expanded the portfolio to now include specific courses for electrical safety and functional safety of machinery.
Benefits
The courses are run at venues across the country. Spaces are limited to enable delegates to gain the most benefit possible from their study time with the Laidler trainer. If demand from a company is sufficient, the course can also be run in-house if required.
Individual delegates
benefit from attending the course because they are taught and assessed by one
of the leading machinery safety consultants in the UK and will gain a
qualification which will enhance their career both through their own
Professional
Development but also by being qualified in an area that previously had no
recognised qualification.
Companies benefit as they will be able to have their own in-house team of machinery safety assessors, negating the need to use external consultants and hence saving finances in the long term. They will also benefit by knowing what qualification they need to look for when employing new members of staff.
Enrolment Procedure
The first stage of enrolment is register using Teesside University's online system. Links are included next to the course dates that are available. Once you have registered, you will receive notification of your place. Following the practical classroom sessions, you will have 16 weeks of distance learning to complete the practical assessment which must be returned to Laidler Associates by the stated deadline.
Cost
Each course costs £1450.00 per student which includes course materials, VR software and refreshments during the taught 5 days. Accommodation is not included and is the responsibility of the student. Fees are payable direct to Teesside University and can be made by credit card or invoice.
